Guidelines for Contributing to Translations, Editing, and Text Formatting

If you would like to participate in creating, editing, or formatting translations generated with artificial intelligence, please follow the steps and recommendations below.

In our ongoing research, we have tested several translation tools: Deepseek, Grog, ChatGPT, Copilot, Google Translate, and PONS.

It is important to note that we have been working on the Slovene translation of The Book of the Law since 1983, and intensively for the past 16 years. Over a dozen translators have been involved in this process — from amateurs to university-trained scholars. Artificial intelligence (especially ChatGPT, Deepseek, and Grog) has often provided surprisingly accurate and, at times, even more correct solutions than previously known.

ChatGPT produced the highest-quality translations, though it struggles with consistent verse numbering, especially across longer chapters. Deepseek and Grog performed better with numbering, but their overall translation quality was slightly weaker. Copilot and Google Translate proved unsuitable for this task.

How to Create a Translation Using ChatGPT:

Gradually (or all at once) input individual chapters of The Book of the Law from the text files available here.
Ask ChatGPT for a translation and check whether the verse numbering matches the original.
Copy the translation into a Word document, then into Notepad, and back into Word – this removes any hidden formatting.
In Word, compile the chapter, apply basic formatting (to ensure clean, plain text), and optionally add a first round of edits.
Upload the document to Google Docs: Main Document. (Request editing access by writing to al@bookofthelaw.net – specify your chosen language.)
In the document, replace the English source text with your translation, and format page and (optionally) line breaks.
Perform final corrections — proofreading and language polishing.
Once your work is complete, send a message to the above email to let us know.

Please also include a brief copyright statement confirming your authorship of the translation and granting us permission to publish it for non-commercial use on our website and social media channels.

If you would prefer that WE generate the AI translation (via ChatGPT, Grog, etc.) for a specific language, simply send us a request. You would then be responsible for any necessary corrections, page breaks, and line formatting.
